Abstract

Lactation Massage is a massage technique for the head or neck, back, spine and breasts, which is useful for stimulating the hormone oxytocin and the hormone prolactin which can increase breast milk production. This effort is made because there are still many babies who are not given exclusive breastfeeding by their mothers who reason that the milk does not come out. This type of research uses a Pre-Experimental design with Time Series Design using a single-shot case study and an initial test – the one group pretest. The population in the study was puerperal mothers the first day to the fifth day with an average of 20 puerperal mothers per month. The sample selection used purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 15 puerperal mothers in Wonorejo Village, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. Data analysis in this study used Repeated ANOVA. So it can be concluded that Lactation Massage is a massage technique carried out on the head or neck area, back, spine and breasts which aims to stimulate the hormone prolactin and the hormone oxytocin, the hormone will stimulate the alveoli cells in the breast glands that will contract, with contractions will cause milk to flow into the small breast channel so that breast milk comes out (Indriyani,  2016). So Lactation Massage is obtained when the p value is 0.000 < 0.05 which means the p value is smaller than α so that Lactation Massage is effective against the smooth production of breast milk in postpartum mothers.
