Abstract

Hospitalization is an unpleasant experience for children and causes stress in children. The act of inserting an infusion is painful for the child and causes distress. One of the measures to reduce children's distress is by implementing a combination of music therapy and parental holding. This study aims to determine the stress level of children at the time of infusion after being given a combination of music therapy and parental holding with the Post Test Only Control Group Design research design. The results of the Mann Whitney test on 38 samples showed a p value = 0.027, where the combination of group of music therapy and parental holding was able to reduce the level of distress with an average decrease of 15.53, while the parental holding group was only able to reduce the level of distress with an average of 23.47.
